Pretty well every business, no matter how small, needs to have a social media presence. This is partially for basic promotion of the business – general marketing and branding. It also includes the chance to manage your customer relations, giving you the chance to engage with all of those people out there, current customers and those you are hoping to capture, and from that build more of a brand, more of a presence. As always it needs to be done right, preferably with the right imagery, still and video, to go with it all. You also need to choose the right channels and the right schedule for posting and engaging with others.

Seasons change – new marketing opportunities

Autumn grows, leaves fall …

– the backdrop for your brand changes

The change in seasons gives you an opportunity. Yes, I know it can be one of those tiresome things needing more effort but then it is also an easy way to have content and design ideas ready and waiting to plug in to a new campaign.

We will see a change in the natural environment – trees having leaves change colour, giving a new palette around us outside, then shedding leaves etc. We see a return to school for the kids, sports moving on, a change in the clothes we wear, skies, lengths of days and nights, temperatures lower. Each of these may be a point of interest.

With the change season so the natural palette changes. Should yours? Should it give you an opportunity or an excuse to make some design changes? alter the palette of what you are offering up?

Content is all important for your marketing efforts. Saying something directly is one thing and works for some occasions, giving the whole message a little decoration and telling a stroy, at least in part, is more usual these days. You need to say it right for the audience you are trying to reach and it is all a lot better if you add something interesting graphically and even better with video.

Here are a couple of simple promos I did for projects within the entertainment world.

You can make simple promos or adverts, there is also the option of making video banners or using video backgrounds for your site. As marketing tools videos have the same range as graphics or illustrations:

  • they can be simply or basically informative
  • they can be illustrative of a product or service
  • perhaps they can show some new offer
  • they can go beyond all of such and be part of your brand storytelling

Whichever form or use they need to be a good example of what you are about. They need to have your style, or the style of those you are looking to address or attract. They need resonance.
