Once you have begun the ongoing work of landscaping your brand, creating the background to all of your efforts, creating keywords and phrases whcih will help, adding images that are relevant and so on … then you can think about the first major effort – logo and tagline. These are your icons! These are the image or images and the basics of the first messages you will send out to your target audiences.
Before you actually start the process of creating options, possible designs and writing copy, there are a couple of things you will need to do. arising out of your preparation you should be able to move towards decisions concerning the palette you will use, the font to carry your major message and the basic icons.
I will return to some of these areas in further articles. Here I want to give you some basic grounding in the whole process of this stage in the branding effort.

Colour has its own psychology. It would be wise to pay attention to this.
In all of this take time to talk to people, especially if you are using an outside firm to deal with this. Talk to your friends and family to hear their opinions. Talk to prospective customers and those around them. The old adage still rules – “good ideas don’t care who have them.”
