Lush – the fragrance video

Video is increasingly being used by businesses of all sorts and sizes. It has the capacity to get a message across quickly and easily and has a growing importance for SEO. Google in particular has an increasing liking for such content. Youtube is becoming more and more a social network and less of a purely video sharing site.
As part of a local campaign a video was decided upon. To give it a little more push a 20s motif was the order of the day. Motifs, varying treatments, different looks feels and palettes have real use. No-one would find the endless repetition of the same decor in any way exciting. It was an interesting task, to source all of the required elements – suitable royalty free music, titling boards and frames, additional effects.
Hopefully the result is both entertaining and useful. It ultimately runs for slightly more than my own personal 2 minute rule but that comes from the use of title boards (the text dialogue/story text). There is more footage to use so if people would like to see more, let us know.
Many businesses may have access to the equipment needed to make a basic video – camera, location, editing suite. If, however, a business wants something a little more professional then it is time to talk to someone else.
there are a number of rules to remember , though:
– 2 minutes at most, unless it is a webinar style of video, something instructive or informative
– ensure that it has a message that is direct, one way or another
– keep it clean and tidy, try to avoid the unprofessional
– make sure you add all information you need to get across, the viewers need to know who you are and how to get hold of you.
There is a lot more that can be said. Take a look at the f4m media slideshare uploads – first steps, next steps, presence felt and more.
